Tipping is a fundamental part of the restaurant and service industry in the US. As you may know, tipping (or leaving a tip) is leaving money for an employee who provided you with a service like a waiter, bartender, cab driver, pizza delivery driver, or hair stylist.

Leaving a tip is of course not required by law, but anyone who doesn't leave a tip is seen as inconsiderate, rude, or even scum by everyone else.

If you travel to the United States, be sure to leave a tip of about 15% of your bill’s total for a restaurant, $2-$5 for a haircut, and $3-$6 for food delivery.
