In my home country, going to a movie theater is a luxury that most families like to take on a monthly basis. In Japan, I feel like it is a yearly basis for me. Movie theaters tend to be expensive in general, but in America, they arent too expensive compared to if you live and work in Japan. Japanese movie theaters are expensive and the price to go see a movie with the family can cost too much, and sometimes I feel it may not be worth it. It seems in Japan it really needs to be a movie that you want to see and have been waiting for versus a movie that seems interesting, at that point do you want to risk the cost? I personally find American movie theaters to have better service. If you run out of popcorn, at least where I am from, you can go back to get a full refill of popcorn. Japan doesnt allow that, and it can be disappointing. Now I wont deny that the service of Japan is bad, its just the quantity you get for the same price. For example, in Japan you get a two drink combo with a bucket of popcorn. The large drinks are about 900ml each and the popcorn I will say is decent size, but remember, no refills unless there is a drink bar and you pay extra for that. Now In America you get a two drink combo with popcorn. You get two 1600ml cups and a larger popcorn box, with free refills. In my opinion, I enjoy American movie theaters a lot more than Japanese, and I long for the day that I will be able to go to them again.
