We are currently experiencing the heat of Summer in Japan, and with Summer comes the sound of cicadas, school holidays, and the various summer festivals which happen all over the country. However, where I come from in Australia, summer looks very different.

The most obvious difference is the time of year. Summer in Australia begins in December, and finishes after February. That means that Christmas in Australia is hot! The other main difference is the type of weather in summer. The southern area of Australia, where I come from, has a very dry summer, with hot, sunny days and cool nights. In Japan, it is a lot more humid, and hot for all 24 hours of the day.

In Australia, we enjoy having barbecues with family and friends. Like in Japan, festivals happen frequently and are enjoyed by people of all ages, from music festivals to food festivals to garden festivals. It is a wonderful time to visit Australia and escape the Japanese Winter!

私たちは現在、日本で夏の暑さを経験しており、夏には蝉の鳴き声、学校の休み、そして全国で行われるさまざまな夏祭りがやって来ます。 しかし、私がオーストラリアから来た場所では、夏は非常に異なって見えます。

最も明らかな違いは時期です。 オーストラリアの夏は12月に始まり、2月以降に終わります。 それはオーストラリアのクリスマスが暑いことを意味します！ 他の主な違いは、夏の天気の種類です。 私の出身地であるオーストラリア南部は、夏はとても乾燥していて、暑くて晴れた日と涼しい夜があります。 日本では、湿度がはるかに高く、24時間ずっと暑いです。

オーストラリアでは、家族や友人とバーベキューを楽しんでいます。 日本と同じように、お祭りは頻繁に行われ、音楽祭からフードフェスティバル、ガーデンフェスティバルまで、あらゆる年齢の人々が楽しんでいます。 オーストラリアを訪れ、日本の冬を逃れるのは素晴らしい時期です！
