Winter in Japan is famous for having lots of amazing illumination displays, and I have been to a few during my time living in Japan. However, none have been more spectacular than the display at Izu Granpal Park near Ito town in Shizuoka.

Izu Granpal Park is an amusement park which is open in the day time and night time, and at night time they light up the park with thousands of lights and displays, including a laser and smoke show. This is only the 7th year they have done the illumination, having started in 2015. It is both romantic for mum and dad, and entertaining for the kids. There is even a small room with some interesting animals!

Although the drive to the Izu Peninsula is long from our western side of Shizuoka prefecture, it can be reached by shinkansen or local train via Atami.
