November is here! The weather is getting colder, the autumn leaves are turning beautiful colors, and winter is just around the corner. November is also a wonderful month to enjoy Japanese traditions, learn about celebrations around the world, and practice English in everyday life!

11月になりました！少しずつ寒くなり、木々の葉も美しく色づいて、冬の訪れを感じる季節ですね。11月は、日本の伝統行事を楽しんだり、世界のお祝いについて学んだり、日常生活の中で英語を練習したりするのにぴったりの月です！

1. Enjoy the Beautiful Autumn Colors! 🍂

美しい紅葉を楽しもう！

November is a great time to enjoy autumn leaves in Japan. Trees turn red, yellow, and orange, making parks and mountains look beautiful. Why not go for a walk with your family and practice describing what you see in English?

11月は紅葉を楽しむのにぴったりの季節です。木々が赤や黄色、オレンジ色に変わり、公園や山々がとても美しくなります。家族でお散歩をしながら、目に入ったものを英語で表現してみませんか？

Useful English Words:

• Autumn leaves – 紅葉
• Colorful – 色鮮やかな
• Mountain – 山
• Beautiful – 美しい
• Chilly – 肌寒い

Try saying:

"The leaves are turning red and yellow!"
（葉っぱが赤や黄色に変わってきたね！）

"It's a little chilly today!"
（今日は少し肌寒いね！）

Simple conversations like these are a great way to practice English naturally. You don't need difficult words to express what you see and feel!

このような簡単な会話も、英語を自然に練習する良い機会です。難しい単語を使わなくても、自分が見たことや感じたことを英語で伝えることができますよ！

2. Shichi-Go-San: A Special Japanese Tradition! ⛩️

七五三を英語で説明してみよう！

November 15th is traditionally Shichi-Go-San in Japan. Families celebrate the growth of children who are three, five, or seven years old. Many families visit shrines, take photos, and enjoy this special day together.

11月15日は七五三の日ですね。3歳、5歳、7歳の子どもたちの成長をお祝いする日本の伝統行事です。神社にお参りしたり、記念写真を撮ったりして、家族で特別な一日を過ごします。

But how would you explain Shichi-Go-San to someone from another country?

七五三について、外国の方に英語で説明するとしたら、どのように伝えればよいでしょうか？

Useful English Phrases:

"Shichi-Go-San is a traditional Japanese celebration for children."
（七五三は子どもたちのための日本の伝統的なお祝いです。）

"We visit a shrine with our family."
（家族で神社にお参りします。）

"We celebrate children's growth and wish for their good health."
（子どもたちの成長を祝い、健康を願います。）

サンクスギビング：感謝の気持ちを伝えよう！

In the United States, Thanksgiving is celebrated in November. It is a special holiday when families and friends come together, enjoy delicious food, and think about the things they are thankful for.

アメリカでは、11月に「サンクスギビング（感謝祭）」という祝日があります。家族や友人が集まり、おいしい食事を楽しみながら、日頃の感謝の気持ちを大切にする日です。

Thanksgiving is also a great opportunity to practice expressing gratitude in English!

サンクスギビングは、英語で感謝の気持ちを伝える練習をする良い機会でもあります！

Useful English Phrases:

"Thank you for helping me!"
（手伝ってくれてありがとう！）

"I'm thankful for my family."
（家族に感謝しています。）

"What are you thankful for?"
（あなたは何に感謝していますか？）

"I'm thankful for my friends and teachers!"
（友達や先生に感謝しています！）

Try asking your family members what they are thankful for. You might be surprised by their answers!

家族に「何に感謝している？」と英語で聞いてみましょう。意外な答えが返ってくるかもしれませんよ！
